Links useful to develop ultrasound skill set in the critical care setting.

There are multiple useful websites and resources that are useful for healthcare professionals wishing to develop their ultrasound skillset. 

Multi-system PoCUS training run by the Intensive Care Society. This is a great place to start if you would like to take the next step in your training. The ICS breaks the training down into subcomponents so you can study heart, lungs, abdomen, and vascular ultrasound as separate modules.

South London Intensive Care Echo offer a series of resources and courses designed specifically for medical professionals who wish to learn to use ultrasound to inform and speed up their decision-making in the critical care environment

This course focuses on transthoracic echo during the peri-resuscitation period. It builds on skills learnt as part of a Resuscitation Council UK ALS course. The scan is for use on the critically ill patient.

Nepean Hospital Sydney is a world-renowned specialist centre for critical care echocardiography research and education. The also have one of the only nurse-led sonography departments in the world. This website offers some useful resources for ultrasound training.

The British Society of Echocardiography offer basic level 1 and level 2 echocardiography education pathways for critical care clinicians. They also have a good library of resources including training standards and protocols for echo assessment.

For those of you that want to see how far you could go! The EDEC course is training in advanced echocardiography for the critical care clinician run by the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. You will need to have completed the BSE level 1 plus ongoing practice to advance your skills in order to register for this course.

Foundations of Echocardiography is a YouTube channel run by Dr Richard Fisher. He covers all the basics you need to know to perform level 1 PoCUS for the critical care patient.

An educational site for interesting lung pocus cases. Very informative and demonstrates the benefit of lung pocus in the INSIGHT scanning sequence.
